MyBALIKpulau, is one of two community-based arts and heritage education programs organized by Arts-ED. A similar project entitled Anak-Anak Kota is conducted in the World Heritage site of George Town. MyBALIKpulau program has involved hundreds of young residents aged 10-20 from BalikPulau since 2005. The program is designed to help young residents connect with their community heritage by discovering, mapping and interpreting their natural and cultural assets through various creative approaches/initiatives. Young residents use photography, computer technology, illustration and interviews to map and document their cultural heritage such as buildings, trades, food, crafts, lifestyle, people, family’s history, agricultural produce, history etc.
Since 2005, the myBALIKpulau program has published a Discover Balik Pulau Trail Map, Touring of Pictorial Exhibition of Cultural Assets of Balik Pulau and History, Cultural Heritage Walking Tour and published a myBALIKpulau community newsletter.
